Denise-Christine and Pat Driscoll developed the Bethel Suburban Ecovillage Project in their quest for a lifestyle that will best weather the environmental, economic and social changes that will unfold as a result of Climate Change and Peak Oil. Denise has a Permaculture Design Certificate and Permaculture Teacher Certificate. She is entering a 2-year Permaculture apprenticeship with a prominent local permaculturist. Her long-term goal is to obtain a Masters Degree in Permaculture Design. She has also completed the Master Gardener Training and Master Food Safety and Food Preservation Training through the Lane County Extension Office, where she regularly volunteers on the hotlines. In addition to his free-lance computer programming and web-site design work, Pat works extensively with the Pacific Green Party and Veterans for Peace. He was recently elected Secretary for the City-sponsored Active Bethel Citizens (ABC) Neighborhood Association. Denise also serves on the Board of ABC and is a member of the Eugene Permaculture Guild Steering Committee. Pat and Denise both attended Bee School in Spring 2008, through the Lane County Beekeepers Association, and plan to start keeping bees in early 2009. Our current household, which we refer to as "Micro-community" consists of two awesome housemates, two cats, a dog, several chickens, a pond full of gold fish, several pounds of composting worms, numerous garden snakes, itinerant wild and domestic bees and billions of other macro and micro fauna. Four households currently consider themselves members of the Bethel Ecovillage and two parties are now looking for a suitable property to purchase in the Ecovillage Project Area. We do not have any mandatory meetings, dues or rules at this time. If you'd like to connect with
